Valley of junipers

State significance monument „Valley of junipers“ is in Šilėnai forest district in blocks 61, 62. It is the bank of Kaunas sea overgrown with juniper (age about 90 years) of natural origin.
Most of the junipers have very picturesque crown forms – from fan-shaped to narrow columns of different heights. Species composition of the grassy vegetation is abundant, some of them are listed in the Lithuanian Red Book. From an observation landing in the upper part of the slope one can see an unforgettable view of the landscape: aquatic area of complex configuration with bigger or smaller peninsulars overgrown with natural plants. Vivid spatial distribution forming components, their visual effect, clearly expressed design relationships providing optimal conditions to perceive landscape structure and observe its major components, such as forest-field combinations, farmsteads, settlements.
